The Eden Project on a sunny day. Of the pictures I’ve taken over the years this is one of my favourites.

2009 Resolutions
A day late – but better than never – these are my resolutions for 2009
- Exercise more consistently
- I have an exercise bike and do use it but there are weeks when I just don’t get round to it. I’m going to aim for cycling 5 days a week and at least 70km
- Stop buying so many clothes
- Seriously, how many henley t-shirts from Gap does one person need? This one will not kick in until the middle of January though because there are sales to get through first and I am a realist 🙂
- Read all the books I’ve bought
- I have a lot of unread or half-completed books that I just haven’t got round to. I need to actually make more time for reading
- Go to the cinema more
- Probably only made 30-35 trips to the cinema this year. By comparison to most people that’s a lot but I have made a movie a week before now. With the new Showcase in Leicester city centre it’s easier to get to from work and the seats are comfortable. you can normally find something worth watching – even if it’s only to heckle
- Get a proper personal site
- I really need somewhere I can properly experiment with layout, colour and typography. I need to get past the fact that because I do this in a corporate environment on a daily basis I just don’t feel like messing with code at home

Have we not come to such an impasse in the modern world that we must love our enemies – or else?
The chain reaction of evil – hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars – must be broken, or else we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation. -

More people should watch Fringe. It’s the X-Files if people weren’t being hit on the head (Scully…) to stop them seeing the weird stuff happening.

Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.

Ryde Church on the Isle of Wight. Taken from Portsmouth Harbour with a 300mm zoom lens and no tripod at sunset.
Surprised it turned out this steady. This Sony A200 is pretty good at the evening / night shots

A livid sky on London
And like the iron steeds that rear
A shock of engines halted
And I knew the end was nearAs Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman said in the dedication of Good Omens: “to the memory of G.K. Chesterton: A man who knew what was going on.”
