This book is not about heroes. English Poetry is not yet fit to speak of them.
Nor is it about deeds, or lands, nor anything about glory. honour, might, majesty, dominion, or power, except War.
Above all I am not concerned with Poetry.
My subject is War, and the pity of War,
The Poetry is in the pity.

Taken a few years ago on my second trip to Venice using an Olympus U750Z. Didn’t last long as my camera as the images I took with it often felt grey.
This was run through CameraBag on the iPhone using the ColorCross filter. Now it resembles a 1950’s postcard. -

Tuscany photo – mountains, clouds & steam
via flickr.comPosting a photo I took a couple of years ago in Italy. In northern Tuscany paper mills are a pretty common sight. In the morning the steam from them fills the valleys with low swirls of mist. From the walls of a ruined castle this view just carried on forever
