  • Photo: Old stone bridge on Dartmoor

    Photo

This is a photo of the clapper bridge in the village of Postbridge on Dartmoor. There are a few of these old stone bridges around but this is the best preserved which explains its popularity with tourists…

The trek up the slope was made worthwhile when you see the view. Taken and edited with Camera+: the rocks have a polarise filter and the landscape HDR.

  • Photos: 3 images of Buckland Abbey

    Photo_2Photo_1Photo_3

Buckland Abbey was the home of Sir Francis Drake. The former Cistercian abbey is now run by the National Trust as primarily a Drake museum. The images here are of the abbey itself, the great tithe barn and a little door in the garden. The tithe barn is the largest I’ve seen and is perfect for the dance they’re holding there this weekend. All shots taken on iPhone 4 with the Camera+ app.

It rained a bit but this is still a fantastic place to visit. The abbey was only completed in 1936 and has beautiful contemporary stained glass. In addition there is a great restaurant and a monastic produce shop which sells some very interesting stuff. This photo is trying out the HDR filter of Camera+.

  • Photo: the brightly coloured houses of Kingswear

    Photo

Taken from the harbourside of Dartmouth. The mist is rolling in over the hills but hasn’t yet covered the bright fishermen’s cottages in Kingswear.

  • Photo: Castle Drogo (#camera+)

    Photo

Castle Drogo is described as the last castle built in Britain. A folly designed by Edward Lutyens for Julius Drewe it wasn’t completed until 1926. The home is built high on Dartmoor with great views of the Teign valley. But the real beauty is the incredible architectural craftsmanship that went into the building. Taken with iPhone. Cropped & filtered with Camera+.

Dartmeet is a fantastic place to take a break whilst crossing Dartmoor. Great scenery and walks with a good tearoom. The homemade scones are especially nice.
