  • Photo: Wye Valley Autumn

    Wye-valley-autumn

Photo taken on the 31st October 2010 in the Wye Valley near Tintern Abbey. The autumn colours were stunning last year and I don’t think we’ll get them as good this year. This is edited in Flare using a variant of the “Hugging Hipsters” preset.

  • Photo: Durham Cathedral (#flareapp)

    Durham-cathedral

Photo was taken on holiday last year from the cloisters of Durham Cathedral. It’s a lovely little city watched over by the looming mass of a large cathedral at the top of the hill.

Photo was editing in Flare using a variant of the “Resplendent” preset. I liked the glow and the way it’s created an almost graphic novel style for the image

  • Photo: Pop-art Poppy

Taken with Sony A33 at Hidcote again and edited using Flare App for Mac – slight tweak of the pop art preset.

The original photo – a daisy taken at Hidcote Gardens in July this year. I really like this photo anyway as the glow behind works really well with the flower

The version edited in Flare – using the Shoebox presets with a change of texture. Old, cracked and worn and yet surprisingly doesn’t look too artificial – more genuinely old than obviously filtered. I’m impressed with the app so far – more natural variety than most simple photo filter software.

  • Photo: Buttermere in the Lake District (#flareapp)

    Buttermere

First attempt at using the Flare App – bought it because the effects variety looked great. Liking it so far.

This photo was taken on 25th August 2011 whilst on a wander from Keswick round to Honister and via Buttermere back to Keswick. It was a lovely day and the light was beautiful. Messed with a whole bunch of settings in Flare to add a rough border and some super saturation / vignetting to the image.

  • Photo: Hawkshead Church

    Hawkshead-church

Hawkshead village is in the heart of the Lake District between Windermere and Coniston and is associated with Beatrix Potter. This lovely little church (St Michael & All Angels) has a commanding position above the village with views over the fells in all directions. Well worth the detour from the shopping streets below (though watch out for the black & white cat that wanders around – it can be a bit grumpy!)

Beach huts at Wells-next-the-Sea in Norfolk taken on a gloriously sunny day in June. Edited with CameraBag for Mac – (Lolo, Instant, ColorCross and Helga filters)
