Tales of Arise
I thought I’d start the year with a video game update. Over Christmas I’ve been replaying Tales of Arise as I’d purchased the DLC ‘Beyond the Dawn’ for this. Even on a replay I ended up doing every side quest and spent time going back and forth because it’s so engaging to play and the voice acting / art is so good. DLC is good so far but not carrying over my levels and stuff is frustrating! I love the stylisation of this game and it makes such a difference from realism in graphics.

Final Fantasy XVI
I’m trying to finish Tales of Arise so I can go and get the DLC for Final Fantasy XVI and play through that. This was my game of the year last year – plot, gameplay, graphics, and amazing voice acting. Ben Starr in particular is a star – please follow him on twitter as he is an absolute delight.
Looking forward to the 2nd DLC later this year as well which introduces Leviathan and may do an FFXV style change of the game ending. I’m interested in seeing that.

FFVII Rebirth
It’s the big one! On February 29th my biggest game of 2024 lands – FFVII Rebirth – this is going to consume me for most of Spring. I loved the first part of this trilogy and have played it through 3 times so far – I’m anticipating a serious time investment in this one with some great characters. I’m very interested to see where they go with Rufus and the Turks as time has marched on and their characterisation from the original game doesn’t fit well with everything that has followed (Before Crisis, Crisis Core, Advent Children, etc.)
And when I say the big one it’s partly because I’ve ordered the version with the ridiculous 19 inch Sephiroth statue. It was too cool to miss and I have the collectors edition for part one as well.
